Beyond Conception: Men Having Babies
Dir. Johnny Symons
(USA, 2006, 75 min)

Bruce and Paul, already fathers of a little girl, are looking to have their second child through a surrogate. Jennifer has two children from a previous marriage but wants to experience pregnancy alongside her new partner, Jenna. Beyond Conception follows these couples as they embark on a carefully designed journey that ends up being full of suspense and surprises. Director Johnny Symons (Daddy and Papa) gains remarkable access into the lives of his subjects, from the initial “audition” through the selection of an egg donor, the precise science of egg fertilization, and the subsequent negotiations on who will be present at the birth and who gets to hold the baby first.
